Modernizing Rural Access: The Connection Point and Mobile Delivery Model
Workforce infrastructure cannot remain confined to permanent brick-and-mortar centers in county seats. Across rural areas in Edgefield, McCormick, Saluda, and Abbeville, transportation hurdles can turn a 20-mile trip into an insurmountable obstacle to career services.
The Upper Savannah Rural Access Framework ensures career services remain accessible through three key pillars. First, Comprehensive Centers located in Greenwood, Laurens, and Newberry provide full-service support. Second, Connection Points established in public libraries and partner offices offer convenient access to virtual coaching. Third, the SC Works Mobile Coach extends reach by delivering on-site computer labs and hosting tours in rural towns. Together, these channels ensure that geography does not limit access to critical workforce development resources.
To bridge this gap, Upper Savannah has expanded community Connection Points in local libraries, municipal centers, and partner agencies, supported directly by the SC Works Mobile Coach.
By delivering high-speed internet, resume assistance, and direct virtual advisor connections straight to rural community doorsteps, we ensure geographic location does not limit career navigation. Public services must be accessible where residents live.
